Food Brokers: Getting Your Product from Production to Market
CIFT will conduct an educational seminar focusing on enhancing business elements for start-up companies at the Northwest Ohio Cooperative Kitchen (NOCK). NOCK is a nonprofit commercial facility that educates and advises entrepreneurs interested in establishing viable food businesses.
The seminar will take place on Wednesday, March 18, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Agricultural Incubator Foundation, 13737 Middleton Pike, Bowling Green, Ohio. Featured speaker is Pam Pribanick, Program Director, from Walker Food Group’s “A Taste of Ohio” retail program that provides sales and marketing support for local food manufacturers throughout the state of Ohio. Walker Food Group works hand in hand with their vendor partners by offering suggestions on getting locally made products on the store shelves.
The program also offers the retailer affordable prices, consolidated delivery service, and product demonstrations. According to Pam, Walker Food Group has a close relationship with the staff of OHIO PROUD, providing Ohio food producers and retailers the most extensive local foods focus in the United States. Pam will be discussing how a broker can be very active, from helping with pricing and selling your product, to having a label that catches the consumer’s eye in a tough food market. A quote from Walker Food Group, “Helping You Buy Local”, is more than a slogan – it’s a passion!
Business owners, managers and aspiring entrepreneurs are encouraged to attend this seminar. The fee to attend is $30 per person. Check (made payable to Agriculture Incubator Foundation) or cash only. To reserve a space, contact Paula Ray at the Center for Innovative Food Technology, 419.823.3099, or email pray@eisc.org.
